Project steps: eating.
A few days ago I began to pay attention to how I eat, from chewing to swallowing.
I just googled the correct names of the parts of the mouth to make it easier to communicate
Correction. It is actually easier to explain using references like front teeth instead of "incisors". I'll continue like that:
I just googled the correct names of the parts of the mouth to make it easier to communicate
Correction. It is actually easier to explain using references like front teeth instead of "incisors". I'll continue like that:
- Before the first bite, use your front teeth and jaw to "measure" how much food you are taking and how hard it is to chew, analyze in seconds and make a choice(this is more than one step but at this level of analysis they're small enough )
- Make first bite. Now the food is inside the mouth.
- Use your tongue muscles to make it fatter and block the food from being swallowed.
- Use your tongue to direct the food to the molars. You need to use the tongue's muscles to make it fatter or thinner and at the same time move the tongue to the sides by pulling it from the side you want to make it go to.
- You can use the tip of the tongue for help with the food that is too hard to just push.
6.Close your jaw(mostly in diagonal movements). To crush the food under/over them.
I just did a test with a cantaloupe.
7. With the side of the tongue, keep the food in place while the jaw goes up and down crushing the food.
8. With the tip of the tongue, push the food that was not crushed or stayed out of the molars, to the molars.
9. Ff some food is ready to be swallowed, relax the back of the tongue a bit to make space for it as you give your last bites.
10. Use the tongue to push all the food backward until it falls to the throat. You do this by also making it fatter or thinner and go up and down where you need to.
11. Then tense and relax the throat's muscles to push the food down.
Conclusion: Although it was a "simple" everyday project, I found it harder to describe than things like making breakfast. I taught it was gonna be simpler, but I don't actually see the behavior and have to rely on touch, which is less detailed. Also, some of the steps are very subtle so you have to pay even more attention and be more specific in how you classify the step.
It takes a bit more thinking to name some of the things that are going to because we don't think about them with names, just "eating".

This post seems to be trying do to my suggestions in some way, but just once. My suggestions have been about how to practice, not how to get a quick win with a single activity.
I just thought of this:
I will start by writing down on my notetaker 3 simple projects this week and post them on the weekend.
I have this problem too. I feel accomplished after getting a quick win and then I go back to doing things where I can just stay mind dead and stuck.
How did static memes end up having so much control?
why wouldn't they?
i think a lot of people nowadays view rationality as the default. it isn't. rationality is not automatic or normal. it's not the result when nothing goes wrong. it's a special thing that has to be achieved.
some people think rationality is human nature and it takes corruption, e.g. from society or government, to screw it up. a more common view is that irrationality was common in the past but our civilization has become pretty rational. we're now good at science and educate everyone in school and most people are peaceful, etc. there's some good stuff there but that's just some bits and pieces of rationality and that stuff is also has lots of problems.
the question should be how did rationality get any control and how can it be increased?
if you separate philosophy stuff from your life, it's harder to learn it in a useful, practical way that's connected to your life
