how can/should the basic/fundamental concept be used? what purpose? why is it helpful?
what is somebody missing if he doesn't know this concept?
one thing is that general theories are helpful in working out what to do in real life situations. the **most general** theories are the basic/fundamental ones. they are used the most since they apply to all situations.
